On Easements, Book/Spirit has created an album that showcases each of its’ members different influences. Alt77, a notable music review platform, said the band’s first single “Meant To Be” may just answer the question “what if The Strokes discovered post-punk instead of pre-punk records?”. The band’s second single “Haunt You” (was described by Get Some Magazine as “Pixies and early-Queens of the Stone Age covering Slowdive”. One thing that sets Book/Spirit apart from their peers is their third guitarist, which allows them to explore sounds not possible with only one or two guitarists. On the band’s third single, “Crumb”, in particular, Ratzki’s unorthodox, alternate tuning, behind-the-bridge strumming harmonics and controlled feedback swells are woven into the track seamlessly combining shoegaze and post-hardcore dynamics.
